When the time of Chris’s retirement arrived we decided that we needed a big change to mark the end of her working career and the start of retirement. Our house in Hanham was far too big for us, especially after Alasdair left home. And although it was convenient for Chris’s surgery it was far from the attractions of Bristol.
Also we had got back into communication with friends of mine from university who were now living in Western Australia. It would be nice to visit them, and my relations in Sydney.
And the geological club I belonged to were having an excursion to Naxos – a Greek island in the Aegean.
One thing led to another and we decided to sell our house, travel by train to Greece and go Round the World. The story is told below
The Build Up.
The table below contains all the posts I made about our round the world trip, in the order of the events. Unfortunately this is not the order in which they were written! So to follow the story follow the links in the order below, not by clicking on the “Next Post” link on the posts.
The Home Page was modified as we went along and should really be the last post – I will put a copy at the end of the list.
