The amount of masonry is an indication of the degree of shattering. Just a few metres within the cliff is a tunnel of the closed Bristol Port Railway and Pier. A challenging place to have a tunnel! The previous photographs show the difficulty of keeping the roadway safe. One imagines that keeping the railway safe was also considerable. The railway continued into second tunnel just behind us and this led to rockfalls and the temporary closure of Bridge Valley Road – see HERE
