The Background to this Web Site

The Geologists’ Association planned to hold, for the second time, a geological excursion to Lycia on the South West coast of Turkey.

Then, only a few weeks before we flew, COVID-19 struck and everything was cancelled.

Not to be deterred, the main organiser, Alison Ure, decided to write, as a daily email, a virtual excursion, describing what we would be doing each day. David Bridgland, who was to be the lead geologist on the trip, also contributed.

What they wrote will form the vast bulk of what follows.

Our Pre-Excursion Information

Sometime before we were due to fly we were sent two handouts.
