Good morning all.  I am like you today – experiencing something new.  I have looked across at Meis on each visit and never really expected to make the trip.  Alison let us into her ideas about an impact on the first visit, when I’d have to say that Rob and I were healthily sceptical.  She showed us breccias, but our response was along the lines of ‘well, there are lots of ways of forming breccia’.  But the bit was between her teeth and she has now convinced experts in the field, as you will have seen from the conference contributions and literature that has developed from this.  Questions now are about how the event can be dated and how it fits in to the evolution of the peninsula (more on that tomorrow and during the rest of the trip).  For me, I’m looking forward to that calamari…..

Enjoy!
